Rubella Ballet are an original punk band formed in autumn 1979. Considered part of the Anarcho & Goth scene, with their unique Ultra Violet show wearing home made day- glo punk clothes, created by Zillah Minx. Rubella Ballet's first gig supporting Crass & Poison Girls led to their own headline gigs and support gigs & tours with Death Cult, The Damned, Faith No More, The Mission, Dr & the Medics, Flux of Pink Indians, Sex Gang Children, Conflict, Alien Sex Fiend and so many more. History Constructed around the enduring nucleus of drummer Sid Truelove (Sid Ation) (born John Grant Carroll, 18 April 1960, Sutton Coldfield and former Fatal Microbes Pete Fender (Dan Sansom, guitar), Gem Stone (Gemma Sansom, bass) with vocalist Annie Anxiety. Annie was involved only initially and decided not to continue with the band and left on the way to a gig. Having been drawn to the punk movement during its initial stirrings in 1976, Sid and Zillah Minx (born Zillah Elaine Ashworth, 31 March 1961, Birkenhead).[1] became increasingly committed to its lifestyle alternatives, taking up residence at a large commune that included the Poison Girls, located near to Crass’ Dial House headquarters. Zillah had been with Sid during the first attempt of putting the band together with Anxiety, Fender and Stone so offered to replace Anxiety as vocalist on the same night she left.
