Роза Цветкова (°1931) is a Bulgarian folk singer. She originates from Hotovo, situated in the Pirin Mountain in Southwestern Bulgaria. Since an early age Roza Tsvetkova used to listen to the songs of her mother Ivanka. This way she accumulated a considerable repertoire. In 1951 the renowned composer Filip Kutev heard a song performed by Roza Tsvetkova and invited the gifted singer to join his ensemble (Ансамбъл Филип Кутев). For 35 years, Roza Tsvetkova sang with the ensemble all across the world. Her repertoire enriched the repertoire of the whole choir. Tsvetkova prefers slower songs, characterized by specific folk ornamentation. The song “Lozo, Lozano” tells the story of the grapes that are to turn into wine, which is then to be drunk at a wedding. There are more than 60 recordings of Roza Tsvetkova in the BNR archive. The singer also has three records, released by the Balkanton Company.
