Routavuosi is a music project consisting of four guys from Uusimaa, Finland. Their music is something between alternative metal and progressive metal with a lot of influences from progressive rock. Their music is driven by catchy melodies, low guitar and bass riffs and controversial lyrics. Most of their tracks are composed by Aake Salmi, though Ville Ojala and Samuli Räikkönen participate also. The arrangement of the songs is mostly done by Aake Salmi, Samuli Räikkönen and Ville Ojala. The band released their first demo in the spring 2010. It was recorded in the band's own home studio in Sipoo. The bands second demo was released on 27.7.2011. According to Aake Salmi, the second demo is "quite a lot more mature than the first one". In the winter 2012, the band recorded an acoustic EP, which consisted an acoustic version of the song "Kulutus" and also a new song called "Tulva". Later on, in the summer of 2012, the band re-recorded their first demo, because they weren't happy with the first version. They also started composing new material for a completely new demo. Their third demo was released on 27.7.2013. The band was really satisfied with the new demo, because it "represented the bands common sound better than the previous recordings". Routavuosi was formed in the spring 2009 by Aake Salmi and Iikka Salmela. Kimi Nummela was asked to play the drums, and he accepted the offer. Later on Ville Ojala joined in with Elias Tapio.
