Born in Keons, Texas in 1920, Roscoe Holland attended Prairie View College. In 1940 he left college to join the Navy. After 6 years of service, he became a member of the 4 Beats of Rhythm as a bass player. They performed in and around the Oakland, San Francisco Bay Area. The band travelled to Alaska in 1951 where Roscoe started playing piano and singing as a single act. After 10 years of successfully touring the largest cities in Alaska, he finally extended his fame and fortune to Hollywood, California.
