Roots Residue is a Dutch Hard Rock band, formed in Early 2009. Ruben Serhalawan on guitar and vocals, Marnix Waterval on drums and Martijn van der Pal on bass. The band started with Ruben and Marnix jamming in a small 2m by 5m bedroom and because neither were willing to learn each others favorite music they started writing their own material (to this day no cover attempts have succeeded...). After having written about 4 songs they set off to find a bass player, they met Michel Heijne via the internet and arranged a meeting in a small bar somewhere in Utrecht near St. Martin's Cathedral. After a chat the three of them got in the small 2m by 5m bed room and started working on a song ("The Art Of Improvisation"). In January 2010, Michel joined the band as a bass player and at that moment, the band was ready to go. Practising weekly in Marnix' bedroom, Roots Residue worked hard to find their sound and write songs during these early days. In May 2011 Roots Residue hit the studio to record their first proper sounding material for both promotional purposes and for the experience of hearing Roots Residue on a high quality recording. They finished recording July 2011. In August 2011 they released their first studio material, "Bearing The Existence" containing the songs: "This Buccal Mask...", "Anger That's Inside", "The Art Of Improvisation" And "Broken Bird". All Recorded, mixed and mastered at Firmpro studio by Florian van Tuil. During the recording of "Bearing The Existence" a
