"Rolls" Royce and the Wheels were an obscure R&B/soul group from Dallas, Texas, which was active in the early 1960s. They were session musicians mostly doing commercials and jingles for radio. They released three singles: "The Frog / Topless" (1964), "Afro-Au-Gogo / Ahh Phooey" and "1 - 2 Many". They were also the backing band for Mary Smith, a.k.a. Lady Wilde, who had a hit in 1965 called "Poor Kid". The group's line up was Royce McAffee (drums), Lynn Pendergrass (organ), James Anderson (bass), Brandy Herbert (guitar), Tim Cooper (guitar) and Joe Jonas (congas). Royce McAffee passed away in 2015.
