Artist
Born in Zurich, Rolf Urs Ringger studied music while at middle school and at the conservatory in Zurich. He also visited the 1956 Darmstädt Ferienkurse. Ringger studied composition under the tutelage of Theodor W. Adorno and Hans Werner Henze in Naples, and undertook instruction in directing in Zurich from 1958 until 1962. He studied musicology and philosophy at the University of Zurich and graduated with a dissertation about Anton Webern. Ringger was a guest of the German Academic Exchange Service in West Berlin in 1967/68. He began taking commissions in 1975 and has since created orchestrations and written pieces for piano, voice, chamber ensemble, orchestra and ballet. The works of Rolf Urs Ringger have been performed in London, Manchester, Frankfurt a. M., New York, Berlin, Munich and Tokyo et al. He his currently active as a music publisher.
