Artist
Roddy Huggan hails from Stornoway and plays a style best described as an acoustic/alternative/folk hybrid. Idlewood is a 12 song collection of Roddy's favourite demos recorded over the last year since he got a macbook to play with. It is exclusively available on last-fm from March 2008. Strong melodies and lyrics that deal with real life and emotions are prevalent throughout Roddy's work. Sometimes deadly serious, sometimes full of off-the-wall humour and mad imaginings Roddy's songs are never dull and always have a story behind them. Many of his songs deal with life in the Western Isles of Scotland. Roddy has been a member of several bands including Meantime, Totenkopf Friml, No Head Jackson And The Sharecroppers From Hell, and Jolly-Cheekit. Support slots have included Cutting Crew, The Big Dish, and Malinky. Roddy has been playing acoustic solo sets over the last 5 years after a long break and has supported Martin Stephenson and Jason Ringenberg amongst others as well as performing at the Edinburgh and Tartan Heart Festival Fringes and appearing on national radio and television. Roddy is under strict orders to deny any involvement in the band Memphis Louie & The Rockin' Firebird Of Death.
