Rockin' Pony is an electronic duo consisting of Michael Drumz and Sasha Rozet, founded in summer of 1998 in Israel. At that time Michael and Sasha were also members of a highly provocative hardcore/metal band Ausweis, playing drums and keyboards respectively. Michael, having graduated from Jerusalem Rubin Academy of Music & Dance as a percussionist, was performing professionally with various orchestras. He was also involved with other independent musical projects playing drums, but wanted to experiment with instrumental electronic music (especially when he discovered such artists as Goldie and Red Snapper). Sasha’s musical background is rather different; being a fan of electronica and music hardware, he was really enthusiastic about sampling/synthesis and was performing as a DJ occasionally. The first experiments started in 1996 with a purchase of synthesizer and sampler. The style of Rockin’ Pony music is a mixture of electronica and easy listening, with a touch of jazz elements and classical influence - ultimately, fusion. All compositions are based on (unrevealed) story lines which give the music a rich narrative structure, with a strong emphasis on melodies and harmony, rhythm and style changes, and a positive mood with a particular, fine humour. The debut album Hello came out in 2002 on German electronica label Lux Nigra having received a very good response from press and electronica fans.
