Artist
Robin was born in Lansing, MI, raised in Okemos just outside East Lansing but wandered after highschool to the Copper Country in the UP of Michigan to find music in deep her blood. After a summer in Boston to study music she returned to Lansing where she began her musical career playing folk and dinner clubs. Traveling north to Charlevoix with her two small children she played lounges and sang with small jazz bands and a 17 piece Big Band and continued her writing and indi-recording career, played festivals and opened shows for Rory Block, Michael Smith, Josh White Jr. and Greg Brown. Greg describes Berry's voice as "clear spring water gushing out of a deep place in the earth. It goes right to your heart." Robert Downes, editor and owner of the Northerns Express magazine shared that Robin "reflects northern Michigan's feminine soul, blending themes of strength, courage, and vulnerability in her songs, all rendered with the spirit of awe and optimism." Β Robin was included in "Going Driftless an artists tribute to Greg Brown", a 2002 Red House release who's royalties are donated to the Breast Cancer Fund in California. Robin continues to create quality recordings that bear replaying. Her last release includes several original tunes and live performances and covers from Van Morrison, Neil Young, Garnet Rogers and Greg Brown with a special treat of a live performance duet with Robin and Greg.
