(taken from Robert's web page) - For those who have no clue who Robert Svilpa is – you’re not at all alone. Robert Svilpa for the vast majority of the world is an unknown quantity – enigmatic to the extreme as you might find some minimal reference to the name or a listing in CD/cassette credits (usually as producer/engineer, or for the rare guitar solo contribution) but for the most part he’s been silent and staying in the shadows for his entire musical career – at least until recently… Rob has been writing, playing and recording music now for a very long time. After years of accordion lessons, playing/destroying guitars, and stints in bad cover bands, in 1988 Rob joined up with Marc Koenen (keys) and Juris Vinters (drums) and formed "Babble and Rhetoric" (name taken from a line off a Sting song), with whom an eponymous cassette was recorded and released After "Babble and Rhetoric" parted ways in early 1990 it wasn't until mid-1992 when Rob was asked to write a 30 second piece to accompany a promotional commercial for North Bay's "Summer Jam Music Festival". From 1993-96 Rob spent most of his time engineering and producing a staggering total of almost 100 local bands/artists. Rob also spent time as a studio player – guitar sessions and also was the on staff MIDI expert for many studios in London, Ontario, Canada.
