Robert Macdonald was a choral scholar at Christchurch College, Oxford where he read Biochemistry and Music. He was awarded an Exhibition to the Royal Academy of Music and spent several years as a member of the choirs of St Paul’s Cathedral, Westminster Cathedral and Westminster Abbey. He has performed Il Tempo Il Ritorno d’Ulisse in Patria at the Teatro Sao Carlos, Lisbon and Sarastro Die Zauberflöte at the Brighton Festival. His repertoire also includes Commendatore Don Giovanni and The Abbot Curlew River. On the concert platform, Robert Macdonald has sung Bach B Minor Mass for a Far East tour with TheMonteverdi Choir / John Eliot Gardiner, Handel Hercules at the London Handel Festival / Lawrence Cummings, Mozart Requiem with The London Mozart Players / Raymond Leppard, Bruckner Mass in F with The City of Birmingham Choir / Christopher Robinson and Stravinsky Symphony of Psalms with the BBC Philharmonic / Harry Christophers. His repertoire also includes Purcell The Fairy Queen, the Bach Passions and Christmas Oratorio, Messiah, Haydn Creation, Mozart C Minor Mass, Verdi Requiem, Elgar Caractacus and Tippett A Child of our Time.
