Robert Haig Coxon was born in Montreal. Canada and studied composition at McGill University. Highly regarded as a multi-keyboardist, Robert draws on a broad range of personal, spiritual and musical experience to create his music for meditation. The Early Years Robert started playing piano with both hands at the age of 1 1/2. At 9 years old his Grandmother offered him her upright piano and he began taking formal music lessons with Olive Rosengren. Within two years he was composing his own music. During High School, with teacher Don Garrett, he was introduced to not only great Classical works, but also to Pop and Jazz. By age 15 he had formed his first Rock and Roll band and at age 17 he was playing in Night clubs. University and Beyond While studying Composition and Pedagogy at McGill University, Robert also played trombone and organ, becoming an accomplished commercial- jazz musician. He taught High School band for several years before having the urge to perform full time. He became director of a 10 piece Disco band, joined an intrenationally known Canadian pop group and began to write film music. To sharpen his skills as performer and composer, he studied piano technique with internationally known concert pianist, Rose Goldblatt and orchestration with Don Habib. Both these teachers were key catalysts for Robert’s successful career as a writer and performer. The Composer "Robert Coxon is undoubtedly one of the great composers reincarnated.
