I'm a singer/songwriter of beach-flavored acoustic folk songs ~ chill music with a hint of island-jazz ... neat, with a twist! I have a fairly soft voice and play Takamine steel- and nylon-string guitars (not usually at the same time!) and an Andy Powers custom tenor ukulele. The Short Bio Page will let you know a little bit about my life and how the music came to be. I keep pretty busy from March through November and slow down a bit through the holidays and winter (cold-water ... sea water!) months to spend time with my family. My favorite type of show to perform is a house concert ... up close and personal, stories, from the heart, laughing, and getting to know folks! So cool! Nominated the last three years for the Trop Rock Music Award as Best Male Vocalist, Songwriter, Album & Song of the Year, winner of the 2011 Song Of The Year award for his “Waiting For Jimmy”, a native of Oceanside, CA, Rob Mehl spent most of his youth bouncing back and forth between Southern California and Hawaii, where he learned how to surf, appreciate classic literature and play music. His father was a radio DJ, so Rob was exposed to a wide variety of musical influences, including Hawaiian storytelling songwriters, jazz artists and pop music.
