Roadrats was a Swedish glam-punk band formed in 1984 by three musicians from Stockholm in Sweden. The drummer, Gyp Casino, had previously played with the punk bands Warszawa and Warheads. He also played from 1980-1982 in the Finnish glam-rock band Hanoi Rocks, but had to quit because of a fight with bandmate Andy McCoy. Roadrats got their major engagements in Finland due to Gyp Casino's popularity as a former Hanoi Rocks member, often playing as a support act to Hanoi Rocks. In 1985 they were about to release an album when circumstances changed and the band started over under a new name, Rolene. At this time, Gyp Casino tired of drumming and changed to guitar-playing, so they also got a new drummer. As Rolene they released the album that as Roadrats they had been about to release. The former members of Roadrats have later been in many bands and have cooperated in several of them. Some of the more notables acts are Electric Boys (featuring Bloom and Christell) who had international success, Live Ammo with Andy McCoy (from Hanoi Rocks) and The Royal Disharmonic Orchestra with Dregen (from The Hellacopters and Backyard Babies). Since 2004, Conny Bloom and Andy Christell have been members in Hanoi Rocks. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
