Rise NYC is new band that mixes the big melodies of the new wave of rock and the buzz of electronics creating a sound that is uniquely their own. Gigolo Records head supremo, DJ Hell, includes one of their songs on his latest collection, Gigolo Records Compilation 8, describes them as "sinister and sweet; The future of rock". Larry Tee includes one of their songs on his new compilation "Gentle Electric" and describes them as "one of the most compelling new bands I've seen in NYC in years."AND with a buzz growing on both sides of the Atlantic, this new group is preparing a full-length album that shows the many facets of their individual unique artistic visions. Rise NYC is a mixed gender affair that features Shelly on hookey bass + dramatic vocals 'dark and sweet' and Mr. underground & Brooklyn ring-master/ Pat Field's 'stylist to the stars' Die J! Mars + programming & guitar. All growing in the East Village/Williamsburg music scene that has spawned so many gold and platinum artists of late in their realm (think Scissor Sisters, Interpol, Yeah Yeah Yeahs, TV on the Radio, LCD Soundsystem, etc.) RISE NYC has been inspired by a variety of great artists although it does not sound like anything else, it's classic.
