about

This Richard Pryor is the late great Snooky Pryor’s son, aka “Rip Lee”. Rip was born April 17, 1958 in Chicago, IL. He moved with his family at the age of ten to the southern tip of Illinois in a small town, Ullin 40 miles south of Carbondale. At a young age Rip picked up discarded harmonicas his dad left laying around the house and start blowing them behind his dad’s blues records. In high school he played guitar in a soul band. By 1992, he joined forces with his brother Earl Pryor to form a blues band where he played guitar and harmonica. To get more experience, Rip went on to play gigs and record with his dad and front his on bands. As a result of this exposure Rip recorded his own CD “Pitch a Boogie Woogie”. On 8 of 11 tracks, Rip is playing all instruments except piano, which is handled by Bob Pina and one track is recorded ‘live’ at the Cavalier Club in Cairo, Illinois. To have someone performing 1950's-styled Chicago blues in the new millennium is a delight and in Rip’s case you’d have to call it authentic. Rip currently do not have a band formed, but will play as a one man band or use provided musician. Rip goal is to spread his blues around the world.
