Rik van Boeckel is a Dutch poet, songwriter, singer/rapper and percussionist. His instruments are djembé. conga’s, bongo’s, cajón and all kinds of small percussion. In 1982 he started to do solo-performances in the style of performing poetry and spoken word, a combination of songs, rhythmic poetry, rap with African and Latin percussion, electronic music, pop, rock, Latin music and hiphop. I performed all over the Netherlands. He played African music, Latin, fusion, world crossover with several groups, with gigs in the Netherlands, Belgium, France, the UK, Hungary and Portugal.. At the moment he collaborates with MB of the Rotterdam based reggaetóncrew Ghetto Flow (www.ghettoflow.com) with whom he recorded ‘Sunshineland[’. He is also a member of the group Bel Cante with whom he performs Spanish music with influences from flamenco, classical music and Sefardic music (www.bel-cante.nl).
