Artist
Daniel Murphy (guitar/vocals), Nicholas Cirillo (bass guitar, vocals), and Jonathan Molina (drums, percussion) have been friends and bandmates since high school, playing together in a couple of other outfits before finally taking control of their own destiny as the mighty RoD. They’ve been making a righteous racket ever since, busting out exceptionally addictive guitarpop fuelled by scrappy energy, sly wit, and a seemingly endless supply of hip-shakin’, hand-clappin’ hooks. Right on Dynamite rocked 2008 with its first single, “Won’t Let It Go” b/w “Wrong, Too Right,” also released on Brooklyn’s own Standpipe Records. Recorded at the world famous DFA Studios, the seven-inch was produced by LCD Soundsystem’s Matt Thornley and mixed by Roger Greenawalt (Ben Kweller, Aberfeldy, the Pierces). The single’s release prompted Spin to wax effusive, praising the trio as “a welcome reprieve from brooding and over-serious rock.” RoD were later named as Spin’s “Artist of the Day,” noting the “the heart on Murphy's sleeve is always more important than the sleeve itself – the band gets by more on raw emotion than style and flair, while also bringing the fun for all ages.” A loose-limbed, amped-up live act, Right on Dynamite has spent much of its existence playing in venues across NYC, including an acclaimed three-gig residency at Piano’s in early 2008.
