Somewhere between the homogenised sound of the mainstream and the endless chaos of experimental music is a British producer called Riffioso. Brought up on a diet of classic rock by his father, 60s pop by his mother and techno by his sister he dived into hip hop back in 2001 and produced the perfect backdrop for artists such as Mic Righteous, Katy B, Logic, Kasha Rae, English Frank and Speech Debelle, clocking up over half a million youtube views in todays currency. Seeking more creative diversity Riffioso started to mix up genres of Drum & Bass, Folk, Reggae, Cinematic with pop songs and went on to work with Ed Sheeran, Aruba Red, Baby Sol and Jay Norton, creating some of his most treasured pieces . Working with songwriters free’d him from the rules of the genre’s and allowed Riffioso to put more creativity then ever into a song. Fastforward to 2012 and you now find Riffioso releasing his first ever independent project: Born out of a reaction to many things; That record labels were constantly asking him for songs that sound like existing songs and that the mainstream has lost it’s usefulness i.e it is like plastic gimmicks off the shopping channel, it’s used once but either falls apart or is left in the drawer. Riffioso want’s to show the world that there is always another way to do music.
