Artist
The dean of Midwest rock/culture critics, Ranger Reek, poked holes in the pompous blimp of rock and tv culture in the 70's and 80's, in such publications as Creem, Oui, Vidiot, Sunrise, Prairie Sun, and other alternative magazines. Not as feared or fearful as Bangs or Meltzer, but every bit their equal in terms of creativity, he was overlooked until recently when Bill Knight, former editor of Prairie Sun and Sunrise edited and had published The Rick Johnson Reader: 'Tin Cans, Squeems & Thudpies', a decent splat of Reek's babblings. Rick died in April of 2006, a loss of a truly creative and original writer. User-contributed text is available under the Creative Commons By-SA License; additional terms may apply.
