Artist
In the halls of Motown, he was the mentor, she was his protege -- Motown superstar Rick James took her under his wing when she came to the company in the late 1970's. Rumor has it he reshaped the songs for her debut, "Wild and Peaceful" from songs he was working on for the great Diana Ross, and the rest, as they say, is history. Teena absorbed what Rick knew, and they fell into the forbidden-love zone and created several duets -- the most famous being "Fire and Desire" from Rick's now classic STREET SONGS. That duet rivals almost anything Marvin Gaye did with Tammi, Diana or any other female he ever sang with.
