Artist
Rick Huckaby was born on April 15, 1975 in Baton Rouge, LA. At a young age Rick began honing his musical skills as a drummer building his first drum set out of pots and pans using wooden spoons as sticks. At the age of 7, the Huckaby family moved from Baton Rouge to Huntington, WV. It was here where Rick continued to play drums for hours a day and eventually played in his first band when he was in the 8th grade. At this point, Rick had never picked up a mic. His only role was behind the kit as a pocket driving drummer. However, when the lead singer quit before a talent show, Rick took over vocals and for the first time, his voice was heard by an audience. He has never looked back. He then went on to pick up a guitar and with countless hours of obsessive practice, realized his love for the instrument and let his natural ability be heard. He began in College fronting a local country band which became one of the best live acts in the tri-state area. In 1996, Rick loaded up his guitar and made the official move to Nashville, TN leaving behind the comfort zone of his small town. After laying asphalt for 2 years and singing demos in his free time, Rick eventually caught the eye of country legend, Tracy Lawrence. Rick was asked to be the acoustic guitar player for Tracy’s band in 1998 and remained in that position for 5 years. During this time, Rick co-wrote several songs for Tracy’s albums including “Steps”, “Breaking from the Inside Out”, and “Long Wet Kiss”. In 2002
