about

Richard’s first experience with sound experimentation and music composition began in the mid 80s when he acquired a sampler, computer, and other studio tools. "At that time I was more of a budding visual artist, but attending a Pink Floyd concert completely flipped my interests towards music. I would sample everything that could produce a tone and try to form something musical and sonically interesting out of my recordings. My keyboard and compositional skills were minimal, but I listened closely to my influences and was determined to learn the music creation process.” Richard moved from Vancouver, Canada to New York in 1991 and studied classical keyboard and composition while mingling with the underground electronic music scene. After his studies he relocated to London where he recorded six ambient albums and several film soundtracks. His most recent projects include the new albums "Frequencies - Soundscapes of the London Tate Modern", "Frequencies 2 - Soundscapes of the New York MoMa", and installations for Art Basel Miami 2007 and the 2008 Berlin Art Forum. The Frequencies series is an ongoing collection of albums and sound installations that will be produced over the following year.
