Richard Pleasance is a Melbourne based multi-instrumentalist/Producer and a founding member of the hit band ‘Boom Crash Opera’. Early in his career Richard was in bands such as 'Government Drums' (1980-1982) with Deborah Conways' husband and musical partner, Willy Zygier; 'Serious Young Insects' (1982-1983) where he met the man that he would later form Boom Crash Opera with, Peter Farnan and; 'Bang' (1983-1984) a band that featured Nick Seymour who would later join Neil Finn and Paul Hester in Crowded House. Richard’s first solo album titled ‘Galleon’, was released in 1991, was nominated for five ARIA's (Australian Record Industry Awards) and was toured with Richard and Elvis Costello. Four years later he released his follow up album, "Colourblind". Richard also released a 1996 record with Wendy Morrison titled "Felt" and more recently formed 'Pleasantville' with his wife Michelle. In 2004 they released their debut album "Hill Of Beans". Richard writes and produces songs for TV and documentaries; including the theme song for the award winning Australian TV series Sea Change. More recently though he produced the sound track for the award winning Australian film "Kenny". Richard has produced, recorded, written and played with a number of artists such as Deborah Conway, James Reyne, Suzanne Vega, Shane Howard, Daryl Braithwaite, Augie March, Jimmy Little, Archie Roach, Paul Kelly and Sophie Koh.
