The Rhos Male Voice Choir was formed in 1891 with Richard Mills, a prominent musician of that time, as its conductor. Choral competitions at the many Eisteddfodau were the Choir's life blood. By the turn of the century, many premier awards had been won by the Choir. The Rhos Male Voice Choir is in great demand all over Wales and England, and in the 1899 appeared in St. James' Hall, London. In 1903, the choir sang for the Prince of Wales. They have appeared before Royalty several times since including Royal Variety Command Performance before Queen Elizabeth in 1975. Since those days, the Choir has travelled thousands of miles to concert venues throughout the British Isles and have toured Europe and America on several occasions. In 1993 the Choir visited Switzerland and made a return visit in 1995. In 1997 the Choir went on a concert tour of Ontario, Canada and also visited Germany. The choir were very pleased to have been invited to sing in Columbus, Ohio in September 1998. The choir's musical director W. Tudor Jones conducted the evening's Gymanfa Ganu.
