Rhein Percussion formed in the Fall of 2011 at California Institute of the Arts. Members Amir Oosman, Dan Ogrodnik and Joshua Carro met during their Masters; studying with world-renown specialists Swapan Chaudhuri, Randy Gloss(Hands On'Semble), Andrew Grueschow and Houman Pourmehdi. Each multi- instrumentalist in Rhein composes new and exciting music for percussive, melodic, and electronic instruments, combining contemporary and traditional music from India, Africa, Puerto Rico, Iran and more. Their self-titled debut was released in June of 2013, and garnered attention from both the percussion and world music communities. Rhein Percussion had the pleasure of performing new compositions alongside Hands On’Semble at the Blue Whale in Los Angeles. Currently, the group is doing clinics at universities in the Southern California area and looks forward to participating in Spring festivals and conventions.
