Revenge Of Nephthys started in 1989 by Oliver and Dirk Mika Hesse, then shortly after, Tugay Kayakisla joined the brothers. After a few concerts in Hamburg, Berlin, Leipzig, Regensburg and Hildesheim opening for the likes of Love Like Blood, Mephisto Walz, Escape With Romeo and Michel van Dyke, the band discovered a strong following... so much so that even after a radical change of the singer in August '93 by Sven Kindermann, the fans stayed loyal. Unfortunately, soon afterward, with the departures of drummer Dirk Hesse and bassist Joachim Uebermuth, the band lost much of their underground goth essence. To signify the change, the members decided to leave off "Revenge Of" for the more simple, "Nephthys."
