The unique sound of Republic of letters is a clash of radio ready Brit Pop influenced alternative-rock with an atmospheric art rock. The band was originally formed by brothers Chris Venti (vocals, guitar) and Nick Venti (drums) in 2005. With the addition of Martin Niwinski (bass guitar) and later following Adrian Thorstensen (guitar) in 2006, the band has really come into its own sonically and creatively. Republic of Letters developed their sound, rich with heart-swelling choruses, energizing rhythms and passionate vocal performances influences such as The Who, Editors, U2, Bruce Springsteen and The Police. When they set foot on stage, the band is determined grab a hold of the shirt collars and hearts of every listener and naysayer. Having attracted the attention of producer Brian Karscig (Louis XIV), the group set off into the hills of San Diego for a month of tracking. They came out with an amazing debut album, “Stories”, due to be released in April 2011. Stories is their much-anticipated follow up to a six-song EP, Spirit or a Ghost, recorded in March 2007 at Big Fish Recording Studios with producer, Ben Moore, who has worked with famed artists such as Switchfoot, Rocket from the Crypt and Hot Snakes. Republic of Letters recorded their first official demo with Marc Jordan who helped co-produce and engineer the three songs in 2005.
