René Dif (born October 17, 1967 in Frederiksberg, Denmark) is a musician and actor, best known as the male vocalist in the Danish pop-dance group Aqua. René Dif is a pop artist from Denmark. He is a member of the Danish pop-dance group Aqua, with as many as 10 top 10 hits. Aqua was formed in 1994 and split up in 2001, but reunited in 2008. The band sold more than 28 million records worldwide, and appeared in the Guinness Book of Records as the only debut band with three "self-penned" Number One hits in the UK. René Dif has received more than 140 Gold and Platinum albums (and received a Diamond album in Canada for 1. mill sold albums). Aqua announced their comeback (as a live band) in 2008. The Aqua # 1 hits were: "Roses Are Red", "My Oh My", "Barbie Girl", "Good Morning Sunshine", "Lollipop (Candyman)", "Happy Boys and Girls", "Cartoon Heroes", "Around the World" and "Dr. Jones". In March 2011 Aqua released their new single, "How R U Doin," which was taken from their fourth album. René Dif's father was Algerian and his mother Danish. He has two younger brothers and a sister. He was never interested in school and was kicked out of it several times. He left school after ninth grade and worked on a cruise ship. While he was in Barbados, Dif heard a local DJ on the radio and decided to become a DJ. He went to Norway to pursue his dream of becoming a star.
