Artist
Reinhard Fuchs was born in 1974. He studied accordion at the Bruckner Konservatorium in Linz from 1991 to 1995, followed by studies in composition with Michael Jarrell at the University of Music in Vienna from 1995 to 2002. Fuchs also attended courses at the University of Miami in Florida. Masterclasses with Brian Ferneyhough, Marco Stroppa, Magnus Lindberg, and Klaus Huber were important influences for his further development. Along with commissions from renowned ensembles and promoters, Reinhard Fuchs has been the recipient to numerous international prizes and awards (first prize at the 7th International Composition Competition in Salzburg, second prize at “stasis” et vita” in Germany, Special Award of the Foundation Royaumont, the 2001 Anton Bruckner Award, and the 2003 Austrian Grant for Composers). In 1997, he became co-founder of the composers’ group GEGENKLANG. His works are regularly performed by ensembles such as Klangforum Wien, RSO Wien, Mozarteum Orchestra Salzburg, Basel Sinfonietta, Les Percussion de Strasbourg, Arditti Quartet, Wiener Klaviertrio, and Trio Amos under the baton of conductors such as Johannes Kalitzke, Matthias Pintscher, Beat Furrer, Sebastian Gottschick, Fabrice Bollon, Annu Tali, and Susanna Mälkki; and at festivals such as Wien Modern, Salzburger Festspiele, Musiktage Donaueschingen, Musikprotokoll at Steirischer Herbst, Hörgänge, Konzerthaus Berlin, Contemporary Music Festival Alicante, Soundings London, Warehouse London, Festival Latinoamer
