Reds is an amorphous, improvisational music collective based in Brighton, UK. Originally formed in 2011 by drummer Ryan Bollard and guitarist Sam Collins as a casual sideproject to experiment and to take a break from the rigid structure of song based bands that they were both playing in. Later they were joined by Ben Cutmore on synth and Lewis Kristian Shaw on Bass, rounding the sound out. Although not the original intention for the band, they began playing live around Brighton and in 2012 were joined by Thomas House on guitar and began recording for their first release in 2013, an entirely improvised 5 track album of dischordant guitars and dark, multi-layered drones. Due to their collective approach of playing music, they often play with various musicians from in and around the Brighton music scene, including memebers of Sloath, Slum of Legs, Red River Dialect, The Bald Knobbers, Creaking Chair, Sweet Williams and Leaopard Leg. During 2012-13, they have been gigging extensively, playing at Supernormal festival and in Brighton have shared the stage with the likes of Arbouretum, Date Palms, Acid Mothers Temple, Guardian Alien, Plurals, Jungfrau and The Physics House Band.
