Artist
Originally based out of Buffalo, NY, Redheaded Stepchild is essentially the two-person combo of singer/songwriter Kathryn Koch and guitarist/songwriter David Nanni, who root their original compositions in traditional American patterns. Now working out of Nashville, Redheaded Stepchild has recorded three CDs--"Time Will Tell" (2000), "Folks 'Round Here" (2003), and "Some Sunny Day" (2005)--but their reputation rests largely upon the inspired live performances of Koch, in particular, an extremely versatile musician who sometimes assumes the role of old-fashioned one-woman band, playing rhythm with her feet and wedging in harmonica and saxophone breaks between verses. The recordings' sound, filled out with studio musicians, presents a decidedly different side of Redheaded Stepchild than is typically evident in their live shows.
