Apparently there are at least two musical entities that go by the name of Red Iris. One is a stoner rock band from Mt. Clemens, MI started in 1990 by two brothers. Joe Hunt played lead guitar and sang and Vernon Hunt sang and played rhythm guitar. They were the principle writers for the band throughout it's history. In the earliest days, Curt Bowman and Jon Warner switched between drums and bass depending on the song, but Jon was dropped and Curt became the full-time drummer with Ken Blaha joining the band on Bass. They did shows and recorded an amazing amount of songs. The band split apart for a time in the mid-1990's with the Hunt brothers joining separate acts. Finally, in 2000, Vernon got Curt - the original Red Iris drummer - to sit down and record a few tracks. Joe heard them and decided to add some parts. Then Joe asked to have Vernon and Curt add some parts to some songs he was working on. Red Iris was rising from the ashes. The reformed band just needed a bass player. They were introduced to Martin Kuchna through some mutual friends. He turned out to be a monster on the bass who was totally in tune with everyone else musically. This was the final piece to the puzzle. When these four were together in a room making music, it was magic. From 2000 until 2006, they wrote and recorded well over 90 songs in all styles from folk to blues to acid rock to pop to grunge to metal.
