Recliner are a collective from Auckland New Zealand who create dark moodily atmospheric music. Formed in 2004 they set about creating their own musical cocktail, performing in dimly lit venues where their sultry sound found a natural home. In 2005 they created Control Tower studios where through the dark winter months they recorded their debut Album REST ROOM. The distinctive Recliner sound is a rich multi layered approach, and when the album slid into music stores in May 2006 it received enthusiastic reviews. “This is impressive stuff; dark, yet melodic, almost like love itself – one minute wonderful, the next lying all around you in tatters” and “In fact, the sonic layering on display throughout the album is nearly as much of a highlight as the sultry vocals of the two singers…". The REST ROOM photography by vocalist Belinda Bradley was a finalist in the 2007 Independent Music Awards, and a fistful of songs from the album were playlisted on US College Radio with chart sucess throughout March & April of 2007. The video Clip for "UGLY" took out Best Music Video @ the FEAR NO FILM/ UTAH ARTS FEST held in June 2007, & was selected as a finalist in the "WE ARE LISTENING", New Music Video Awards in July 07, & has also been selected to air at DIGIFEST in Florance Italy, August 2007.
