Whether it be creating connection within yourself or with others by opening up, being vulnerable and empathetic - connection is an integral part of music and being human. The music industry is changing exponentially. Within this ever evolving landscape, I want to make sure I stay true to my roots and always return to my why. Why do I create? Why do I pursue this passion? Why is music such an important part of my life? So, what is my why? The answer is the connection I had with my maternal grandmother. Growing up, she was the one chance I got at being a kid - exploring the possibilities of what can be without fear or judgment. She let me figure out who I was and who I wanted to be when everyone else forced me to grow up faster than I wanted too. With her, we would spend our days together listening to Elvis, Pasty Cline, Jodie Messina and we'd dance the mashed potato and sing from the top of our lungs without a care in the world (she even recorded me on video!). We'd be silly, go on hikes in the woods,, eat an entire jar of cheese with crackers in one sitting, make chocolate peanut butter eggs, walk her numerous dogs around town and have sleepovers almost every weekend. She gave me the opportunity to grow in whatever way I wanted. Without her, I would not be the person I am today. Sadly, she lost a hard fought multiyear battle with cancer in 2013. As an adult, I often
