Rea Respirator was formed in 1985, originally under the name Skruplös Sangvinisk, Fredrik Grehn, Magnus Grehn and Palle Rosén. Fredrik and Palle had previously played together in a band called Nerv Kollaps. At the time of the name change in late '85, Mikael "Löken" Karlsson (Rövsvett) joined as vocalist. They played a number of gigs and recorded two demo tapes, the second one never released. When they broke up in '86 or '87, Fredrik formed Palimpsest, Magnus and Löken formed 16 Blåsare Utan Hjärna and Palle stopped playing music.
