Rat:Daddy were a rock band based in Southampton, England. After meeting in secondary school, the members made music together for several years before forming Rat:Daddy in 2001. The band released an EP, "We Should Be Going Crazy", independently, which was well received by local fans and critics. After signing to Changes One record label, the band released a split-album with Loose Thread, entitled "Dirty Stars". Despite an increased fanbase, the band failed to secure a record deal after Changes One disbanded, folding themselves in 2006. The band's sound is best described as melodic rock in the vein of the Wildhearts or Cheap Trick, with an emphasis on power ballads and 80s-style rock posturing. Lyrically, the band focused on the traditional rock cornerstones of love, rocking out, and, bizarrely, an annoying character called Wayne. The band went through several lineups, but the three permanent members of the band- Ian, Tim and Jon- are still visible in the local scene, playing slightly different music under the name of Idiot 3 (http://www.myspace.com/idiot3) .
