There are two artists using the name Rapa Nui: 1. An experimental underground Peruvian collective based out of Lima. Rapa Nui operates somewhere in between the spheres of pounding free jazz and dense psychedelic drone, with many of their compositions merging elements from these two disparate fields into a holistic wall of scorched-earth improvisation. They have released several landmark records, including the albums Lucha Troglodita, Frida, and Eco Paradigma, an acclaimed collaboration with the Argentine band Ø+yn that was released by Feathered Coyote Records in early 2014. 2.
