Ralph Taylor is a British singer-songwriter from Suffolk, active on the independent music scene for over a decade. Biography Taylor was born and raised in Suffolk. He began making music as a teenager, forming a rap duo at the age of 11 and experimenting with home recordings using a “Guitar Hero” microphone. Later, he moved to London to study at the BIMM (British and Irish Modern Music Institute) and continued developing his craft as a bedroom producer. Musical style and influences Taylor blends alternative pop, funk, soul, hip-hop, jazz, folk and electronic elements, often using a loop pedal to build layered arrangements. His influences include Prince, Paolo Nutini, Eminem, Damien Rice, Jack Johnson, Supertramp, and Ed Sheeran, who grew up near him and inspired his use of looping techniques. Career and releases In 2016, he released his debut EP Hanging on a Scar. The following year, his single My Love surpassed 300,000 streams on Spotify. In 2020, he released the funk-pop track Sweet Innocence, produced by Luke Buttery, written as a personal and emotional closure to a past chapter. Taylor has played over 200 live shows, including appearances at festivals such as Boardmasters and Kendal Calling, and has supported acts like Franc Moody, Gecko Club, Will and the People and Dutchkid.
