My influences include Otis Spann, Memphis Slim, and Pete Johnson (among many others) 'Waiting For My Train' is my first CD (self produced) It was recorded at Blue Heaven Studios with my friend Jimmy D. Lane sitting in on 6 tracks From Sonicbids: About: Years of studying the blues masters from Spann to Roosevelt Sykes to Pinetop Perkins have paid their dividends and now Ralph Bassinger is perhaps one of the finest masters of the Chicago blues piano to be found anywhere outside of The Windy City. From IsraBox: Ralph Bassinger is a blues & boogie woogie piano player from Oregon, who's been playing for almost 30 years. Although he plays that long, this is his first solo recording. Before now he only did session work and was a pianist in a few bands. On this debut "Waiting For My Train", which was encouraged by Jimmy D.Lane, the superb guitarplayer, which insiders will know as Jimmy Rogers' son, he plays and sings "live" in the studio without any overdubs, some boogie woogie numbers and slower blues piano songs. All his own material,except two:"That's Allright" by Jimmy Rogers, mentioned above, and "Reconsider Baby" by Lowell Fullsom. Why Ralph waited this long to record his first cd is what we ask ourselves, because this pianoplayer sure knows how to play those keys, that's for sure.
