Imagine the campfires of ancient Silk Road caravans where music played by travelers from distant places merges to create a new sound. Tokyo based Rain In Eden blends instruments from across the Silk Road and Asia to recreate these moments. Rain In Eden began in 2007 with a project to blend the Edo period Shamisen playing of Megumi O. with the contemporary electronic composition of Kelly Williams. Over the next two years the band added north Indian style tabla player Shiori Ishida and percussionists Minowa and Yuzo. And soon expanded their sound to integrate traditional instruments from Afghanistan, Iran, Kurdistan, Uzbekistan, NW China, Japan and Turkey. The band has been very active in Japan`s growing ethnic music and ethno-fusion communities. Their performances range from fully acoustic and traditional to exotic blends of electronic and traditional instruments. While their live performances have been noted for the ability to transport audiences to a different time and place. In 2010 the band released their first self titled CD "Rain In Eden" from Amane Records Tokyo.
