Radioactive Prostitute formed as a concept during the 1996 Dirigo Boys' State when a small donation was made to the U.S. Special Olympics under that name. Radioactive Prostitute formed as a band in August of 2002 when Slippy and Brt, two friends from Maine and Massachusetts were called upon to fill an opening slot for Pine Tree State Mind Control at the Flywheel in Easthampton, MA. Only given a week's notice before the show, and with no songs or even any musical experience together, the two took to the stage with MIT noise master GKL and proceeded to scare off half of the audience who thought they were there to see minimalist drone by turning the amps all the way up, rolling around on the floor, and banging on trash cans. Moments after the conclusion of the show, they were booked by shocked audience members for other gigs later on that year including a performance at the Transcendental Music & Film Festival in Waterbury, CT and a live radio performance on WMFO in Medford, MA. 2003 through 2006 were growing years for the band both in terms of songwriting and exposure. A slew of ridiculous yet catchy songs were written to add melody into the live acts. Smashing CD's & records on stage and projecting video footage of questionable content were commonplace at shows. The performances varied from being acoustic, to electric, to no instruments at all.
