Eduardo Stengel was born in Decatur, Illinois but was adopted by a family in St. Louis Missouri after a rough start. All throughout childhood all he could think about was music and stories. He loved fantasy and anything that could scoop him up from mundane life. After a moderately successful stint with the hip hop group G-Ridden during his teenage years he broke off and set out for Peru on an exchange. There on a joking whim he auditioned for an up and coming power metal group called Cry baby. He was chosen as a backup vocalist and a keyboard player. Shortly after, however, he was put on lead vocals after a series of highly successful gigs. Throughout the year Cry Baby toured and played with the likes of Coky Kaya, La Sarita, and Tremelo. They were featured in the Expo Rock Peru tour and were upcoming band of the year on two local news stations. Eduardo had to leave the glory of Cry Baby's success to come back home to Lake St. Louis in the US after his exchange was over. That's when friend and guitarist Ben Bigelow suggested they play some stuff together. It was an instant click as Eduardo's versatile vocals mixed with Ben's Dark Mysterious riffs to create and ambient flamenco progressive sound. They then decided to fulfill Eduardo's dream of a Concept band "THE RACE TO OLVIDO." Influenced heavily by the story telling styles of Coheed and Cambria, Ayreon, The Mars Volta, and Forgive Durden, Race To Olvido is a versatile mix of classic, ambient, progressive, flamenco, and meta
