Artist
Produced - or more accurately: unleashed - by Doug Sahm, the single 'Red Temple Prayer (Two Headed Dog)' (1975) was Roky Erickson's first release after his incarceration at Rusk State Hospital and his first after the demise of the 13th Floor Elevators, six years previously. The multiphrenic text of the song is matched by an extremely murky sound picture that merges psychedelia with hard rock, courtesy of Erickson's backing group Bleibalien. The band's name is a play on the German phrase "bleib allein" ('stay alone'), combined with the English word 'alien'. The single was credited to R. Ericson (including the incorrectly spelled family name!) & Bleibalien, but you will be forgiven if you scrobble it as a Roky Erickson song instead...
