Q-Mystik (also known as Katalyst Q) is a producer/emcee. Mainly a producer now, he blends a smooth sound with a melodic tone for his beats. His rhyme scheme, flow, and relevance create a swagger that can not be duplicated. He started producing in late 2006 and has been writing rhymes since the seventh grade. Many people say his swag and style is "refreshing" when compared to most of the other hip hop artists out today. Solo Projects are in the making with no set release date. Q started out as a percussionist playing the drums, xylophone, vibes, marimba, etc. and taught himself how to play the piano by ear in a matter of months. Q credits his musical talents to his late grandfather who was a blues/gospel musician and his drive/determination from his father. Along with family and friends Q credits many artists as influences. From the compositions of Pharrell and the Neptunes, to the sampling styles of 9th Wonder. Modern day emcees and singers include Lupe Fiasco, Common, Kanye West, Jill Scott, Kenna, Erykah Badu, Eric Benet, Musiq Soulchild, MF DOOM, Little Brother and many more. Along with newer music Q has also become quite a vinyl junkie digging through many of his mother's and grandmother's records finding great artists such as Marvin Gaye, Al Green, Anita Baker, The Jackson 5, The Sylvers, Teddy Pendergrass, Michael Jackson, Sugarhill Gang, and many more.
