Pure Adult are an experimental punk band formed in Brooklyn in 2017. They consist of musician Jeremy Snyder and contemporary dancer and visual artist Bianca Abarca. Jeremy grew up in a church-turned-cult, where harsh, dissonant music was off-limits. Today, Pure Adult's music incorporates elements of post-punk and addresses themes of violence and oppression. After independently releasing their debut single, 'The Power of Incredible Violence, Pt. III', via FatCat Records, Pure Adult gained attention for their visceral and angst-filled sound. Jeremy's evangelical upbringing was strict, expelling any non-Christian music, films, and friends. Despite this, he taught himself to play multiple instruments and make multitrack recordings using a karaoke machine. By high school, he was secretly listening to bands like Swans and Sonic Youth and recording his own songs. After leaving the church, Jeremy studied religion, philosophy, and politics while working as a sound engineer. He toured with small pop rock bands and developed a far-left political worldview. In 2017, he began recording Pure Adult's debut EP in his apartment, sharing radical ideas through their music. Pure Adult's dedication to creating challenging yet captivating punk songs has earned them a growing following, and they show no signs of slowing down.
