A few years ago in a small bar in down town Amsterdam a couple of musically talented friends who were meeting almost every weekend decided to create a live music night. The night was a big success. But it was until a cold winter night, definitely in need of some warm reggae music, they decided after a jam session to start a band. On that cold December night they decided to go and do something together,… make some heavy music, music that comes right from the heart. They called it Punky Donch. The meaning of Punky Donch still remains unclear, even for the band members, but it definitely means something far deeper than your imagination. Since that day the music industry has encountered itself with a whole new breed, something definitely unique in every sense. They called it Gangsta Reggae. Awa Ras, the lead singer, is a talented young upcoming star that hypnotizes you with his unique vocals. Next to him we have Don Dotch with his profound deep bass voice straight from Surinam that will thrill your heart. Juicing up the beats on the bass guitar is the well experienced Von Rast, he will make you move to his island groove. Leading the guitars is Nando beach who surfs his way through the sweet sound of his guitar. Scrubs the booty shaker ensures you that you will swing on his percussion style.
