Emerging from the frostbitten edge of Northern Ontario in 1993, Puddy clawed their way from the basements of Timmins to the sweaty dive bars of Toronto, becoming a fixture in Canada’s indie scene by the late '90s and early 2000s. Renowned for their visceral live shows and razor-sharp melodic hooks, the band hit their stride with Sweetspot (2000), a stoner-punk opus that became a cult classic. The album sold thousands of physical copies, racked up over 60,000 downloads in the pre-Napster Wild West of internet music sharing, and more recently, amassed 150,000 streams on a bootleg YouTube channel—an unexpected resurgence that spawned a reunion and its long-overdue re-release on vinyl.
