Pandit Jagdish Prasad is a renowned Calcutta-based Hindustani classical vocalist of the Patiala Gharana. He received his initial training from his father Badri Prasad, who was the court musician of the former principality of Raigarh, situated in the modern state of Chattisgarh. Later he became a student of the legendary Bade Ghulam Ali Khan.Under the tutelage of both these Gurus, he enriched his repertoire in both classical and semi-classical music and can sing khayal and thumri with equal command. He is regarded as one of the leading vocalists of Hindustani Classical Music.Gifted with mellifluous yet robost voice with depth and inborn melody,Panditji has regaled the music listeners spread throughout the world. Panditji’s music is so aesthetic in presentation coupled with clarity and purity of raga in a voice that has spell binding effect on the listeners wherever he performs. He has performed in all the major conferences held all over the country and has also toured abroad in countries like USA,CANADA,UK and several parts of Europe.
